The company will start production on these new sensors in early June and they are going to offer at least 12.6 megapixel resolution and 1080p video recording. No one has of yet ordered these new sensors but because of the fact that Apple have previously used OmniVision sensors these could be just the thing for the brand new iPhone 5.

There are some rumours circulating that Apple are going to stop using OmniVision and move to Sony but these are unconfirmed as yet. The iPhone 4 uses OmniVision sensors so Apple may just decide to stick with them and if they do the iPhone 5 could be every photographers dream phone. Again we have to wait and see what will be officially confirmed but this all sounds like good news so far.
